Frequently asked questions
What makes BBODY's matcha different from other matcha brands?
BBODY’s Premium Ceremonial Matcha comes from its own matcha plantation in Japan. It is 100% real ceremonial grade matcha: finely ground from tea leaves from the first harvest that are grown in the shade. Many matcha brands actually sell lower quality matcha and still call it “ceremonial”. BBODY controls the entire process: from plantation to packaging, so you can be sure of real Japanese ceremonial matcha.
What is the difference between ceremonial matcha and regular matcha?
Ceremonial matcha is the highest quality matcha, made from first harvest tencha leaves that are grown in the shade and finely ground. As a result, it has a soft, slightly sweet taste without bitterness and a bright green color. Regular matcha (lower quality) is made from later harvests and often tastes more bitter and less refined. BBODY’s Premium Ceremonial Matcha is 100% first harvest and ideal for drinking pure, but also perfect for matcha lattes and recipes.
What is Blue Matcha and what does it do?
Blue Matcha is made from butterfly pea flowers, not tea leaves, and is therefore naturally caffeine-free. BBODY’s Blue Matcha is known for its debloating effects and benefits for gut health. It is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. The striking blue color makes it popular for lattes, smoothies, and mocktails.
How do I prepare ceremonial matcha correctly?
Add 2-3 grams (about a teaspoon) of matcha powder to a bowl. Pour 70-80 ml of warm water (not boiling) over it and whisk with a matcha whisk in an 'M' shape until a frothy layer forms. Enjoy your matcha warm or as part of a latte.
For a matcha latte, heat and froth 150 to 200 ml of milk or plant-based milk with a milk frother and pour it into the matcha. Stir gently and enjoy warm.
For a cold version, add the matcha powder to cold water or milk, whisk well or use a shaker, and serve with ice for the perfect iced matcha!
Is matcha healthier than regular green tea?
Yes, because you consume the entire tea leaf in powdered form instead of just steeping it. Matcha contains significantly more antioxidants (catechins), L-theanine for calm focus, and chlorophyll than regular green tea. One cup of ceremonial matcha is roughly equivalent in antioxidant content to 10 cups of regular green tea.
Can I drink matcha if I am sensitive to caffeine?
Ceremonial matcha contains caffeine (about 60–70 mg per serving), but the L-theanine in matcha provides a slow and stable energy release without nervousness or a crash afterwards. If you want to avoid caffeine completely, BBODY offers No Caffeine Matcha and Blue Matcha: both are naturally caffeine-free alternatives.
